One important thing to understand about being an Engineer here at Exotic is that it is not a typical desk job.  We split our time between working with manufacturing departments, designing processes, quoting new jobs, and designing tooling. I have held several roles here at Exotic, but in my current role I design tooling and processes from product definition through the final shipping of the product.  While doing this, I strive to create them with as little waste as possible.  Furthermore, I help specify and consult with vendors on the purchasing in new capital equipment, which helps our processes become more efficient.  Lastly, I create and build relationships with people inside and outside the company in an effort to achieve the best results for our company. 

Each morning I come in and prepare for what needs to be accomplished.  Depending on the day, I could be designing forming dies or fixturing, working with part assemblies, or designing work instruction to assist in creating those parts.  I work collaboratively in teams on a daily basis, and through the team effort we are able to bounce ideas off of one another to achieve the best processes for a particular product line.  Similarly, at times I am working on the manufacturing floor in a joint effort to assist with developing process.  Additional tasks might include modeling and drafting in our CAD system, creating specification documents for capital equipment, and developing quotes to estimate the costs of a new product while working with Marketing and Finance on those packages.  I may also look at legacy programs from years ago to find if there is a better way or elevate any issues that might arise.  

I really enjoy working here because of the relationships that I build everyday with those that I work with. We challenge each other to become better at what we do and over time we see each other grow professionally in our careers.
